Tecumseh Lofts

The Tecumseh lofts were an interesting project from the start. The third floor of the building was a masonic lodge that had been vacated for over 50 years and the roof structure consisted of large beams bolted together, which I have only see in buildings in Chicago (quite an engineering feat in its time). Thanks to the Chicago style beams, we were able to build a loft within a loft on the third floor.

We worked hard to maintain the original character of the building and keep the space a true loft like those seen in New York or Chicago. Each element adds history to the space and maintaining the integrity of old staircases, brick, and trim is important to us. We’ve even found (and kept) signatures on the walls belonging to the original trade-smiths who labored on the building.

We’re proud to have completed this project for two great local philanthropists who are turning Port Huron into a destination. The loft units were filled immediately after finishing construction and have remained full, which makes us happy.
